About Handy Map
If I had to describe it briefly, I’d say this: “Waze, but for toilets and ATMs. Community-based, but with one serious ace up its sleeve that adds premium functionality.”
How The Idea Was Born
Everyone has had a moment when they urgently needed a toilet and had no idea where to find one nearby.
What do we usually do in moments like that? We search on Google, ask random people, or simply try our luck.
But in many cases, you end up finding a toilet that is dirty, poorly maintained, missing toilet paper or soap — things that only make an already stressful situation worse.
I’ve also had moments when I urgently needed to find another ATM after the one I was counting on turned out not to be working. And beyond the stress of solving the problem immediately, another question comes up — is the backup option even working at all?
What if there were a way to know in advance whether the ATM you were heading to had a problem? Or whether the toilet at the nearby venue — the one you’re rushing to with your pregnant wife — was in terrible condition, with no toilet paper or soap?
That’s where Handy Map comes in.
The idea for the app goes back years, to moments when I personally found myself in exactly these kinds of situations.
The goal is simple: to help you quickly and easily find toilets or ATMs you can trust to be useful exactly when you need them.
Who Is Behind The Project
My name is Lyuben Sirakov, and I’m a friend, a husband, and a father.
I’ve always been the kind of person who looks for the best possible way to solve a problem — with the future in mind.
My path so far has been quite diverse — from representing Bulgaria at a European water polo championship, to DJing at events alongside artists such as Dub FX, The Top Stoppers, and 100 Kila, to graduating in Pharmacy from the Medical University of Sofia.
In 2020, I made a complete change in my professional path and started working in software development, later gaining experience at some of Bulgaria’s leading software companies.
What Comes Next
In the next versions of the app, my main focus will be on improving and refining what has already been built, while also implementing your ideas and solving the problems you share.
Because the goal is simple: when you need something important, you should be able to find it quickly, easily, and immediately.
