Handy Map is operated by Lyuben Sirakov in Bulgaria.

This app-specific policy applies to the Handy Map mobile app for iOS and Android. The Handy Map website has a separate website Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, Firebase user ID, username, and optional profile photo. Usernames are used as your public identity in the App.

Location Information: We collect your location only when you actively use location-based features, such as viewing nearby places, using the map, submitting places, reviewing places, or using urgent or nearby features. We do not track your location in the background. Location may be used in real time, temporarily cached on your device, or sent to our backend or map or navigation services when needed to provide the feature.

User-Generated Content: You may submit places, comments, ratings, reports, feature requests, and bug reports. This content may include text, ratings, screenshots, images, device information, and related metadata. Some content may be visible to other users.

Analytics Data: We use analytics to understand how the App is used, such as screens viewed, actions performed, and feature usage. Analytics may be associated with your Firebase user ID.

Device and Technical Data: When you submit bug reports, we may collect device type, operating system, app version, screenshots you choose to provide, and related technical information.

Local Storage: We store some data locally on your device, such as preferences, cached map data, temporary location-based results, and authentication or session data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate the App, provide map and location features, show nearby places, manage accounts, display user contributions, improve the App, detect abuse, enforce rules, provide support, and debug technical issues.

3. Public Information

Your username and public contributions may be visible to other users. We do not publicly display your email address. If your account is deleted, public contributions that remain may be shown as created by "Deleted user".

4. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services including Firebase for authentication, database, storage, and analytics; Google services for Google Sign-In and maps on Android; Apple services for Apple Sign-In and maps on iOS; Expo services; and OpenStreetMap or Nominatim for some web map and reverse-geocoding functionality. These providers may process data according to their own privacy policies.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and app data while your account is active or as long as necessary to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain service integrity.

6. Account Deletion and Anonymization

You can delete your account in the App. When you delete your account, we delete your account profile, authentication record, related private records, and associated files where possible. Public contributions that help maintain the service, such as comments or submitted places, may be retained in anonymized form and no longer display your personal identity. Deleted accounts cannot be restored. Certain internal identifiers may be retained where necessary for security, anti-abuse, legal compliance, or system integrity.

7. Your Rights

If you are located in the European Union or another region with privacy rights, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, or request portability of your personal data. To exercise your rights, contact handy.map.app@gmail.com.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure.

9. Children

Handy Map is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes where appropriate.
